How to find customers for your business with AI

A direct answer, then a step-by-step method: describe your ideal customer, let AI build and research the list, check it, and send personal emails from your own mailbox.

Short answer: to find customers with AI, describe your ideal customer in one or two sentences (industry, country and city, company size, and the sign that they need you now). An AI prospecting tool turns that description into a list of matching companies, researches each one from its website and public profiles, finds the published way to reach them, and drafts a first email for each. You review the list and the emails, then send them from your own mailbox and answer the replies yourself.

The rest of this guide explains each step, what to check, and what AI should not do on its own.

Step 1: Describe your ideal customer in plain words

AI works from your description, so a vague brief gives a vague list. A good description answers five questions:

  • Who: the type of company (for example dental clinics, logistics companies, software agencies).
  • Where: the country and, if it matters, the city. In Arabic or English: a good tool treats «الرياض» and Riyadh as the same city.
  • How big: employees or branches, as a range.
  • Why now: a signal that they need you, such as hiring for a role you replace, opening a new branch or launching a website.
  • Who decides: the job title of the person who usually says yes (owner, operations manager, head of sales).

Example: “Private dental clinics in Riyadh and Jeddah with 2 to 10 dentists, that have a website but no online booking. The decision maker is the clinic owner.”

Step 2: Let AI build the list

From that description the AI searches company sources (business directories, maps, open company registries and the companies' own websites), keeps the companies that match, and scores how well each one fits. Look for a tool that shows *why* each company matched, so you can tell a good fit from a lucky keyword.

Step 3: Check the contact details

A list is only useful if you can reach it. Prefer contact details the company publishes (a general email on its website, a phone number on its map listing) or that can be verified. Results without a published email can still be called or contacted on LinkedIn, but no email should be guessed. A good tool tells you plainly how many results have an email, instead of dropping the rest silently.

Step 4: Let AI draft personal emails

The first email should prove you looked at the company: one sentence about them, one about the problem you solve, and one simple question. AI can write that for every company from what it read on their site, in the buyer's language and in your tone. Edit the first few until they sound like you; the rest follow the same style.

Step 5: Send from your own mailbox, at a human pace

  • Send from your own Gmail or company mailbox, not from an unknown bulk server.
  • Keep the daily volume low for a new mailbox and space the emails out.
  • Make sure your domain publishes SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, or many emails will land in spam.
  • Include a clear way to unsubscribe and honour it at once.
  • Stop the follow-ups as soon as someone replies.

Step 6: Answer replies and measure

AI can sort replies (interested, a question, not now, out of office) and suggest an answer, but the conversation with an interested buyer is yours. Track four numbers per campaign: emails sent, the share of contacted companies that replied, positive replies and meetings. Change one thing at a time: the audience, the first line or the offer.

What AI should not do on its own

Fully automatic mass sending hurts your domain's reputation and annoys buyers. Keep a person in charge of three moments: approving who is contacted, approving the first email of every campaign, and handling interested replies. Contact only people you have a lawful reason to contact, and follow the data protection rules that apply to you and to them.

How Yolias does it: you write who you want to sell to, Yolias finds matching companies (and their decision makers where public data lists them), shows why each one fits and which ones have a published email, writes the emails, and sends them from your connected mailbox after you approve the campaign. Every campaign email has an unsubscribe line, follow-ups stop when someone replies, and out-of-office replies just delay the next email. You pay per prospect found, from $5.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI find customers for a small business?

Yes. Small businesses often benefit most, because the time saved on building lists by hand is a large share of their week. Start with one clear description and a small first list of 50 to 100 companies.

Is it legal to email businesses found by AI?

Emailing businesses about a relevant offer is allowed in many countries when you identify yourself, keep it relevant and let them opt out, but rules differ by country and by type of contact. Check the rules that apply to you and to the people you write to.

How many emails should I send per day?

For a mailbox you already use, a few dozen a day spread over working hours is a safe start. Increase slowly while your replies stay healthy and bounces stay low.
